Power Teaching

Here's a summary of something called the "Six Power Teaching Techniques" out of Southern California (check out the youtube link for a demonstration):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBeWEgvGm2Y&feature=related

1) The "Class - Yes" (when the teacher says, "Class...", the students learn to respond, "Yes...")

2) The "Teach - Okay" (the class learns to teach things to each other in pairs whenever the teachers prompts them to do so. When he/she says "teach", they say "okay" and proceed to "teach" each other the most recent lesson)

3) The Scoreboard (not sure what this means, feel free to help me out with this one)

4) Microlecturing (where instructors lecture in "micro" bits of 30 seconds at a time, rather than 30 minutes)

5) Hand & Eyes (when the instructor is getting ready to cover a key point, he says, "hands and eyes" and places his hands across the table so that the studends know something really important is about to be taught.

6) Comprehension Checks (again, I'm not sure about this one, as it doesn't seem to be covered in the video)

Feel free to either poke some holes into this "Power Teaching" concept...or, praise its ingenuity.
